INTRODUCTION – RDM ROTTERDAM

Welcome to our new demonstration location at RDM Rotterdam! Here you have the opportunity to experience the AquaStroke® generators up close. Where we first showcased the technology during SAIL Amsterdam, you can now visit us year-round for a personal and interactive demonstration.

The AquaStroke® generators run on an innovative mix of 70% water and 30% bio-alcohol – without using fossil fuels. This technology, developed by MayMaan Research Inc. and further refined in collaboration with Feenstra and Vattenfall for the European market, is demonstrated live on-site. Reliability, emission reduction, and sustainability are at the heart of every demonstration.

During your visit, you will see step by step how the technology works, gain insight into the measurement results, and discuss with us how it can be applied to your organization.

A New Standard for Temporary and Mobile Power

AquaStroke® provides a quiet, clean, and flexible alternative to conventional diesel generators—aimed at a future without fossil fuels, fully aligned with Vattenfall’s ambition to make fossil-free living possible within one generation. At RDM in Rotterdam, we demonstrate the power and operation of this technology in practice. No theory—just real, tangible results.

Where to find us

  1. Technology & components – engine, controls, generator, telemetry
  2. Fuel & mix – ethanol/bio-alcohol + water (concept explanation)
  3. Performance – fuel consumption at different load levels
  4. Emission overview – measurement setup, interpretation, compliance roadmap
  5. Use cases – construction sites, events, backup power, off-grid solutions

At RDM we are demonstrating the 35 kW emergency/standby version (SCIOS, ≤ 500 operating hours per year).

Location

RDM Rotterdam (Heijplaat) (Exact address, route and parking details will be provided in the confirmation email.) Accessibility: by car (parking available), public transport + waterbus → Heijplaat/RDM Visitor instructions: please report at the main entrance; our engineer will meet you there. Safety: hearing protection is provided on site; we recommend wearing sturdy, closed-toe shoes.

Our shared mission

Vattenfall claims to make fossil-free living possible within one generation. AquaStroke® is one of the promising technologies contributing to this goal. The generator offers new opportunities for temporary and mobile power—cleaner, more flexible, and independent of fossil fuels.

Technology

The technology is designed for:
Efficient Use of Alternative Fuels – reducing dependence on diesel
Low-Noise Operation – suitable for urban or public environments
Cleaner Combustion – based on water and bio-alcohol, with lower soot and nitrogen oxide emissions (to be tested in Europe)
Flexible Deployment – models from 35 kW to 120 kW, including a version with an integrated fast charger (AquaVolt Max)

Independent emission and performance validation according to European standards will take place later. In the United States, the technology is already successfully applied in real-world situations.

Carbon-Negative Concrete + Impact

Bton, an innovative German company, has developed together with Vattenfall a concrete that stores more CO₂ than it emits. Using a patented mixing process and biochar – a carbon-rich material derived from biomass – cement is partially replaced by more sustainable binders.

The result: a concrete that is not only strong and durable, but also achieves –261 kg CO₂ per cubic metre. This turns concrete from a major emitter into a climate solution, without compromising strength, durability, or usability.

BTon 4

Why This Matters

Concrete is the world’s most used material after water and accounts for around 8% of global CO₂ emissions. With Bton’s carbon-negative concrete, this equation is reversed: every application actively delivers climate benefits.
Together with Vattenfall, this new material is now being applied in energy infrastructure, such as:

Carbon-negative tiles at SAIL Amsterdam – tangible proof that sustainable building materials are ready for real-world use.

This collaboration marks an important step towards a fossil-free future, where even the very building blocks of our energy infrastructure contribute to reducing emissions.
